Schools recognized for excellence
Several ESD 112 region schools were awarded 2009 Washington Achievement Awards from the State Board of Education and the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI). They are:
- Battle Ground High School, Battle Ground School District, Extended Graduation Rate;
- Cam Jr/Sr High School, Battle Ground School District, Overall Excellence and Science;
- Liberty Middle School, Camas School District, Overall Excellence;
- Skyridge Middle School, Camas School District, Overall Excellence;
- Camas High School, Camas School District, Overall Excellence and Language Arts;
- Hockinson High School, Hockinson School District, Extended Graduation Rate;
- Naselle Jr/Sr High School, Naselle Grays River Valley School District, Overall Excellence and Language Arts;
- Vancouver School of Arts and Academics, Vancouver School District, Overall Excellence.
Schools are selected based on their statewide assessment data for the past three years.
Several other indicators are also taken into consideration, including how well students with free or reduced-price lunch performed, how much schools improved from previous year and how well schools performed compared to peers. This year, 70 elementary, 26 middle, 52 high schools and 26 comprehensive schools across the state received awards.
