Professional Growth Plan (PGP)
Purpose:
- The intention of a Professional Growth Plan (PGP) is to ensure that the informal plans which teachers formulate for themselves will become explicit, effective, and realistic.
- Professional Growth Planning is a process of self-directed inquiry focused on what teachers need to learn and do to improve their practice, resulting in improved student learning.
- The PGP should be directly connected to student learning.
Directions: Complete the Professional Capacity Worksheet
- Use the Professional Certification Standards to rate your capacity using the new Four-Tiered System
- The Professional Capacity Worksheet document will guide you when you complete your Professional Growth Plan.
The PowerPoint from the November PGP session, will assist you in completing Steps 1-4.
The PGP that you develop could be used to assist you meet local district requirements.
If your district has a specific PGP form, these may also be used in the BEST program.
Important Dates:
- For Mentee: May 1, 2012 – Completed PGP due to the district key contact
- For Mentor: May 1, 2012 - Completed Mentor Log due to district key contact
