Description:
Join educational leaders from all over Washington and Oregon to explore the possibilities of 21st century learning, 1-to-1 computing and to examine concrete ways to get there from here. Your day will be filled with practical, reproducible ideas, resources, tools, and plans - structured to be active and participatory and to allow you to get the most out of this unique gathering of Pacific Northwest school leaders.

The morning will be spent exploring the tools in School 2.0 and to discovering ways these tools can support you as you plan for systemic school and district transformation. This highly interactive, hands-on, session will be rich in opportunities to collaborate with other school and district leaders as you consider resources to include in your digital age schools and classrooms - and ways to start putting structures in place for success.

The post-lunch session will focus on lessons learned from 1:1 laptop initiatives all over the country, referencing the book "1-to-1 Learning: Laptop Programs That Work" (included with your registration.) Profit from the mistakes made in other districts, get a head start by examining what worked and what actions took these school districts to the next level ... and formulate your own roadmap armed with the vital elements that will help your 1-to-1 be one that works.

This event will do more than just provide a vision for change...you will leave with an idea of your next steps…a roadmap, if you will. The presenters are promising to deliver. This is not only for district technology directors, but other leaders in your district that can not only lead in creating the vision for 21st century learning environments in your schools, but can also mobilize change.

Presenters:

Pamela Livingston is the author of 1-to-1 Learning: Laptop Programs That Work (ISTE, 2009). She has conducted an abundance of research and has interviewed scores of people who have planned and implemented 1-to-1 learning initiatives. She is very clear about what school leaders need to do to structure the changes needed for 21st century learning, and is insightful about the components and elements that can make your vision a reality.

Thomas Woodward is a Staff Development Instructor for Henrico County Public Schools in Henrico, Virginia, as well as an ISTE consultant. His work with teachers and school leaders focuses on technology integration, 21st Century Skills and multimedia. He’s willing to share his district’s experiences with their deployment of a one-to-one initiative, both good and bad.
