Ready! for Kindergarten teams up with parents to help children be ready to learn.

Cowlitz County school districts are offering an exciting new program for families: Ready! for Kindergarten. Families can sign up to learn about what children need to know before they start school. Free workshops are offered to families with children birth to age five. What’s more, each child will receive FREE learning toys and books.

Why participate in a Ready! For Kindergarten program?

Research shows that what happens during the early years sets the stage for school success.

• The academic achievement gap starts before school does
• Parents play a vital role in supporting their child’s school readiness
• Ready! Workshops are FREE and childcare is provided
• Ready! Workshops give parents tools and toys they can use to encourage learning at home
• Ready! Workshops cover important child developmental milestones and skills children need to be prepared for kindergarten
• Skills covered: language and reading, math and reasoning, social and emotional
• Yes, even young children can learn important skills!
• Sessions are based on age groups: birth—1 year, 1—2 year, 2—3 year, 3—4 year, and 4—5 year
• Each age group/session consists of 3 workshops (Fall, Winter, and Spring)
• Each workshop is about 90 minutes long
• FREE educational toys and books will be given at each workshop
